2022年第76届日本临床眼科学会年会将于2022年10月13日（星期四）至16日（星期日）在东京国际论坛和JP Tower Hall & Conference举行，The 76th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Clinical Ophthalmology will be held from October 13 (Thursday) to 16 (Sunday), 2022 at the Tokyo International Forum and JP Tower Hall & Conference. Dr. Kimiko Fukushita, President of the Tokyo Association of Ophthalmologists, will serve as Vice-President, and Dr. Motohiro Kamei, Professor of Aichi Medical University, will serve as Chairman of the Program Committee. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the executive committee members of Japanese Ophthalmological Society who nominated us to hold this meeting. We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to the members of the program committee and all other members of Japanese Ophthalmological Society.

The theme of this conference is "Legacy and Innovation." In recent years, Ophthalmology has made significant progress in research and practice. It has a history of inheriting knowledge and techniques that has been built over a long period of time, and creating new understanding of pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment. "Legacy and Innovation" is the subject of all human activities, including society, culture, and academia. The current Ophthalmology will be passed on to the next generation, and new Ophthalmology will be created, leading to the future. Japanese Ophthalmological Society aims to play a leading part in the ongoing technological innovation.

Professor Toshiaki Kubota (Oita University) and Professor Akitaka Tsujikawa (Kyoto University) will give special lectures. Professor Eugene de Juan, Jr. (University of California, San Francisco) and Professor Yoshinori Ohsumi (Center for Cell Control Engineering, Institute of Science and Technology, Tokyo Institute of Technology) will give invited lectures. Professor Ohsumi is the Nobel-Prize winner in Physiology or Medicine 2016. We eagerly await their wonderful lectures.

As Presidental Symposium, we planned four sessions: macular disease, retinochoroidal disease, corneal disease, and glaucoma. The theme of these sessions is "Legacy and Innovation," reviewing the latest information and predicting future. This conference plays an important role not only in the research, but also in the education. The participants of these four sessions will be able to organize the past, present and future in a wide range of fields in Ophthalmology.

We planned total of 25 symposiums, including programs for the hospital management, Orthoptists, Nurse, and the programs designed by the Program Committee. General lectures, academic exhibitions, instruction courses, and joint seminars will also be held.

While keeping a close eye on the situation of the COVID-19, we are diligently preparing for the onsite congress. For the convenience of the participants, the online format will also be provided, regardless of the situation. We would like to make every effort to provide this conference convenient, worthwhile and fulfilling. We are sincerely looking forward to all of your participation.
